About The Position

The role of Site Quality Technician directly supports Nordex's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a Site Quality Technician, you will work in conjunction with PM Operations on the implementation of corporate quality standards, operating procedures, training, internal auditing, and analytical technology across project sites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and product quality for the protection of our business.

Requirements

  • Degree in a technical or engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3+ years of quality, construction, manufacturing, wind energy, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in quality management and quality control processes.
  • Familiarity with technical standards and their application, including ASTM, AWS, IEC, and ISO standards.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings, schematics, procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, reach conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proactive, customer-focused approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and continuously improve.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform physical activities as required.
  • Ability to climb to heights ranging from 60 to 130 meters and supervise work in confined-space environments.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, color distinction capability, hearing ability sufficient for close-range radio communication, and strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% overnight throughout the United States and internationally as required, including obtaining and maintaining a valid passport.
  • Ability to work safely in construction and field environments while utilizing required personal protective equipment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability under company insurance requirements.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver's license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
  • Ability to meet OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certification and Certified ISO Auditor designation preferred.
  • Wind turbine assembly experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site subject matter expert regarding Nordex IMS.
  • Apply standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation while providing input for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports for the Quality Lead, Site Manager, and Quality Manager summarizing the status of site quality issues and activities.
  • Train contracted quality inspectors on-site and direct their day-to-day activities.
  • Perform and document process audits of all site activities, ensuring documented processes are followed.
  • Create Nonconformities for processes and materials found to deviate from instructions and specifications.
  • Manage Nonconformities by updating records with new information and communicating with Nordex Engineering, Repair Teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Support site quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
