About The Position

As the Site IT Support (SIS) Specialist, you will act as a business, function, or process specialist, potentially being a technology generalist or specialist. You will communicate status to the team, demonstrating confidence and active listening to confirm understanding of customer needs to support the deliverable. You will operate within well-defined policies and procedures and be able to explain them to others. Your normal focus will be on existing products or processes. You will be based at our Troy, MI office Monday - Friday and report to the IT Infrastructure Manager.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a Site IT Support role.
  • Minimal management oversight needed.
  • A 4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong interaction and interpersonal skills, specifically listening and providing guidance.
  • Strong analytical abilities to quickly resolve technical problems, evaluate alternative approaches, and recommend the most feasible and economical solutions.
  • Ability to follow company standards and apply policies consistently.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts and holidays.
  • Fluency in English.
  • A driving license (B).

Responsibilities

  • Supporting up to 300 IT end users, with no direct reports.
  • Supporting projects and initiatives from both corporate and SBU global IT teams.
  • Providing onsite technology support, including in-person assistance to employee end users.
  • Responding to telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support.
  • Providing support to end users on a variety of issues.
  • Identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting a range of user problems including PC hardware/software/LAN and voice network.
  • Diagnosing problem sources through discussions with users and coordinating with internal IT organization support and operations groups and/or with vendors to resolve problems.
  • Acquiring, installing, and upgrading PC components and software.
  • Planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.
  • Training users on the use of new technology and software.
  • Performing proactive monitoring of PPG's computer systems through appropriate tools.
  • Documenting, tracking, and monitoring problems to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Participating in various IT projects working with internal and external teams.
