Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo’s mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. This is done by connecting students to caring adults and community resources that help them overcome the barriers. The Site Coordinator (SC) implements the Communities In Schools (CIS) Integrated Student Supports (ISS) model within an assigned school building. The SC oversees strategies and resources that support student academic achievement, behavior, attendance, and social emotional learning. Serving as a primary CIS representative within the school, the SC collaborates with school leadership, staff, families, community partners, and CIS colleagues to ensure effective Tier I (school-wide) and Tier II/III (targeted and individualized) student supports. The SC provides case management for designated students, manages site operations, and connects students and families to appropriate resources at the right time. The student caseload number will reflect hours worked per week. Work time schedules align with the assigned school’s school day.
