About The Position

Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo’s mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. This is done by connecting students to caring adults and community resources that help them overcome the barriers. Position Summary The Site Coordinator (SC) implements the Communities In Schools (CIS) Integrated Student Supports (ISS) model within an assigned school building. The SC oversees strategies and resources that support student academic achievement, behavior, attendance, and social emotional learning. Serving as a primary CIS representative within the school, the SC collaborates with school leadership, staff, families, community partners, and CIS colleagues to ensure effective Tier I (school-wide) and Tier II/III (targeted and individualized) student supports. The SC provides case management for designated students, manages site operations, and connects students and families to appropriate resources at the right time. The student caseload number will reflect hours worked per week. Work time schedules align with the assigned school’s school day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience in child development, social work, public administration, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the CIS Site Team to ensure coordinated, student-centered service delivery.
  • Monitors the site operations plan with the principal, site team, and supervisor.
  • Supervises, orients, schedules, and supports interns, volunteers, and providers.
  • Develops and sustains effective volunteer, partner and intern engagement systems.
  • Implements all ISS model requirements, including assessment, planning, monitoring, and evaluation in a timely and quality manner
  • Plans, organizes, and adjusts student support services to meet identified student and school needs.
  • Ensures timely and quality completion of data entry, evaluations, and required reports.
  • Manages site supplies and designated technology.
  • Collaborates with teachers to support student progress.
  • Provides appropriate feedback to school personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Promotes awareness of CIS and its value among staff, students, and families.
  • Provides students and families information and referrals to community resources when services are unavailable at school.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with students, families, school staff, volunteers and community partners.
  • Engages CIS champions within the school to expand ISS program support.
  • Collaborates with CIS leadership to strengthen services and develop resources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of ISS best practices, child and adolescent development, and whole-child needs.
  • Carries out planned student support services, as defined in the Site Operations Plan in a timely and quality manner.
  • Delivers Tier I services and coordinates school-wide events.
  • Maintains accurate sign-in and service tracking for volunteers and partner providers.
  • Identifies and recruits students for Tier I and Tier II/III services defined parameters.
  • Engages parents to authorize services and support student success.
  • Ensures students and families are informed about available community resources.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the CIS mission, values and vision.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and supportive environment for students.
  • Builds and maintains positive and valued relationships with CIS colleagues, interns, volunteers and partners.
  • Protects confidentiality of all CIS and site-related information.
  • Advances diversity, equity, and inclusion and ethical decision-making.
