About The Position
Oversee and support accounting functions within corporate accounting and business unit accounting operations. Produce accurate and timely financial statements for the corporation and its subsidiaries, and support business units, subsidiaries, and other entities in recording and reporting financial transactions. The role works closely with other departments and business units on accounting activities.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in accounting, finance, or general business administration.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Commitment to the highest standards of quality and integrity.
- Knowledge of internal accounting controls.
- Solid financial, mathematical, and analytical capabilities.
- Strong project management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- General knowledge of accounting systems and technology.
Nice To Haves
- MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Economics and/or CPA or another financial certification.
- Public accounting and/or utility experience.
- Experience with financial statement consolidations and/or derivative accounting.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the corporation’s monthly financial statement close process, ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, and analyze and review financial statements.
- Prepare account reconciliations for corporation entities and accounts.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for corporate entities, including analysis of current actual results against prior-period actual results for Board and Senior Management reporting and external reporting.
- Support implementation of changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Interact with internal and external auditors, the Corporate Controller’s Department, and business units as required.
- Contribute to accounting, analysis, and budgeting for various accounts.
- Consult and liaise with operating-unit finance personnel on accounting issues.
- Participate in special projects and requests for the Controller’s Group.
- May supervise less experienced staff, depending on the position’s focus and duties.
