About The Position

Hatch is seeking a Site Contracts Manager to join their team in Mojave, CA. This role involves leading a team of contract specialists, administrators, and support staff in managing construction, services, and material/equipment supply and installation contracts during EPCM projects. The Contracts Manager is responsible for the entire contracting process, from pre-award to post-award activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This includes negotiating contract terms, ensuring compliance, documenting changes, and maximizing performance while minimizing risk.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in an EPCM project environment on capital projects, specifically in the management of construction and services contracts.
  • Contracts/legal related training as well as general project and management related training.
  • Experience with the drafting of commercial terms and conditions and an understanding of accompanying legal implications.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes, contract management and corporate governance principles.
  • Knowledge and a working history and understanding of the local environment and contractors.
  • Experience with an excellent understanding of contracting strategies.
  • Proven managerial skills.
  • Proven experience with and knowledge of contractor management.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract change management including schedule change management.
  • Experience with dispute resolution and dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Prior site-based experience in the administration of construction contracts.
  • Ability to fit into a team environment and personal skills to compliment teamwork development.
  • Leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting of contracting strategies, including pricing basis and contractor selection, for inclusion in the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Participating in the development of the sourcing plan, final bidders list, and managing the prequalification process.
  • Managing the contracting team to achieve objectives related to contract formation, including implementing the contract management plan, managing procurement system processes, drafting package plans, managing the bidding process, reviewing contract terms, preparing and awarding contracts, and handing over to site administration.
  • Managing contract administration, including contractual change control, managing processes within the Hatch core system, program monitoring, payment certification, claims administration, developing and implementing contractual documents and change notices, administering contracts according to terms, maintaining contract registers, reporting forecasted final costs and cash flow, managing bonds/guarantees, and closing out contracts.
  • Performing general managerial duties, including supervision, training, and assistance of team members, conducting regular team meetings, liaising with the Procurement Manager for personnel assessment, communication within the project, self-assessing team alignment with Hatch and client governance, and assisting with resource planning.
