SIOP Manager

Victor Sierra AviationBaldwin City, KS

About The Position

The SIOP (Supply, Inventory, Operations & Planning) Manager leads McFarlane Aviation's planning, purchasing, inventory, and distribution functions, with oversight of the Purchasing team and the Distribution Supervisor. This role builds the systems and processes that turn customer demand, material requirements, supplier capability, and production capacity into an executable plan — with a strong focus on our ERP/MRP system and improving on-time delivery, fill rate, schedule attainment, and inventory performance. We’re looking for someone who can pull planning, purchasing, inventory, and distribution together into one connected system, partners closely with Operations, and is just as comfortable running the planning cadence from the ERP screen as walking the warehouse floor with the Distribution team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, materials, planning, or manufacturing operations, including leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience building, improving, or leading an ERP/MRP-driven planning system in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP, material and production planning, capacity planning, inventory management, purchasing, and supplier management
  • Demonstrated ability to translate demand into material, capacity, and production requirements
  • Experience improving operational measures such as OTD, fill rate, schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, shortages, or supplier performance
  • Strong understanding of ERP master data and how planning parameters affect purchasing, inventory, capacity, and production execution
  • Experience leading Buyers, Buyer/Planners, Distribution or Warehouse Supervisors, Material Planners, or similar roles

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with S&OP/SIOP or other integrated demand and supply planning processes preferred
  • Experience with Infor SyteLine is highly desirable
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing strongly preferred; aviation experience is a plus
  • Exposure to highly regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar) is a plus
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or related certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve material and production planning processes
  • Develop ERP/MRP as the primary system for planning, purchasing, inventory, and operational decision-making
  • Establish and maintain effective planning parameters including lead times, safety stocks, order policies, lot sizes, planning horizons, and other critical master data
  • Translate customer demand and forecasts into executable material and production requirements
  • Develop short- and long-range capacity planning to identify constraints and support realistic production schedules
  • Establish a disciplined planning cadence across Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and other functions
  • Drive schedule attainment by proactively identifying and resolving material, supplier, inventory, and capacity constraints
  • Improve master data ownership and reduce dependence on spreadsheets, expediting, manual workarounds, and tribal knowledge
  • Lead and develop the Purchasing team, and the Distribution Supervisor and their team, with clear roles, standard work, priorities, and performance expectations
  • Establish inventory strategies that balance customer availability, supplier lead time, working capital, and supply risk
  • Improve inventory accuracy through effective transaction controls, cycle counting, and material handling processes
  • Develop appropriate stocking strategies, safety stocks, inventory targets, and shortage management processes
  • Drive improvement in material availability and customer fill rate
  • Provide leadership for shipping, receiving, warehousing, and logistics through the Distribution Supervisor to ensure effective material flow throughout the business
  • Own the KPIs for the distribution function — including shipping accuracy, dock-to-stock time, and warehouse safety — and drive continuous improvement against them
  • Establish a structured supplier performance management and scorecard process with measurable expectations for quality, delivery, responsiveness, and lead time
  • Lead supplier performance improvement, escalation, and recovery activities
  • Develop sources of supply and support strategic sourcing of critical materials, products, and services
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and long-term agreements where appropriate
  • Own and delivery YoY cost savings targets through negotiation, sourcing, supplier consolidation, and other procurement initiatives.
  • Ensure supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and other planning inputs accurately reflect supplier capability
  • Partner with Quality and Operations to address supplier performance and supply continuity risks
  • Own the KPIs and performance metrics for the Purchasing/Planning and Distribution functions, aligned with company objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement in key measures including on-time delivery, fill rate, schedule attainment, supplier OTD, inventory accuracy, shortages, past-due requirements, and YoY cost savings.
  • Use data to identify systemic causes of delivery and execution problems and lead cross-functional improvement efforts
  • Partner closely with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Customer Service
  • Develop standardized processes and departmental SOPs that support scalable growth and regulatory requirements
  • Develop the planning, purchasing, and distribution organization to operate proactively through systems and standard processes rather than reactive expediting

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and benefits
  • on-the-job training
  • room to grow
