About The Position

The Single Axle Operator Driver drives a light-capacity, single-rear-axle truck to transport construction materials. The truck may be equipped with different types of beds, such as dump, flatbed, or tank. The operator starts and operates the vehicle, watches for hazards and obstructions, and may service or adjust equipment to ensure proper operation. The role involves heavy physical activity and outdoor work in changing weather conditions.

Requirements

• Less than a high school diploma and related construction experience.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and number series.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• CDL driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Drive a light-capacity, single-rear-axle truck to transport construction materials.
• Start engines and operate throttles, switches, levers, and pedals.
• Take action to avoid hazards and obstructions, including utility lines, other equipment, workers, and falling objects.
• Service equipment and make necessary adjustments for proper operation.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership by example and share knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
