About The Position

The Loader Operator operates a rubber-tired machine equipped with a backhoe bucket on one end and a loader bucket on the other. The equipment is used to excavate ditches and structures, lay pipe and precast concrete structures, carry material, and perform general excavation and backfill. The machine may also be equipped with hydraulic attachments. The role involves operating and adjusting equipment, helping coordinate the positioning of trucks during loading, and taking precautions to avoid hazards and obstructions. The operator may also service the machine by oiling or greasing it. Work takes place outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves heavy physical activity and manual dexterity. Requirements

Less than a high school diploma and related construction experience.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Responsibilities

Start engines and operate machine controls, including throttles, switches, levers, and pedals.
Signal truck drivers to position trucks for loading dirt, rocks, and other materials.
Take actions to avoid hazards and obstructions, including utility lines, other equipment, workers, and falling objects.
Oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine as needed.
Make necessary equipment adjustments.
Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
