About The Position

The Simulation Laboratory Coordinator will serve as a simulator operator, responsible for programming, testing, and running scenarios with faculty instructors. This role involves setting up and disassembling equipment for teaching sessions, organizing lab resources (online, media, text) for efficiency, and maintaining the lab in a clean, safe, and operational status. The coordinator will also update policies, procedures, and safety manuals. They will operate and use a variety of simulator technologies, including anatomic models, task trainers, full-body patient simulators, and virtual reality surgical simulators, while staying informed about new technologies and procedures. Additionally, the role includes preparing equipment for research, conducting research observations, obtaining data, and providing reports. Technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, such as anesthesia machines, is also a key responsibility. The coordinator will assist in training faculty and visitors on simulation operations, demonstrate simulator functions, and develop/maintain spreadsheets and databases for tracking lab usage and research data. Inventory management of equipment, parts, and supplies, as well as assisting with equipment purchases and supervising calibration and maintenance, are also part of the duties. The role involves confirming equipment failures, arranging for repairs, installing software/hardware upgrades, and maintaining repair records. Finally, the coordinator will prepare for and transport devices across campus as needed, and perform other related duties.

Requirements

Associate's degree in a health related field with two years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Self-motivation with regard to increasing present level of understanding and knowledge of the field and new procedures as they evolve
Strong communication skills
Computer skills including the ability to develop spreadsheets and databases

Nice To Haves

Simulator, paramedic or EMT experience preferred.
Medical terminology and clinical procedures knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

Serves as simulator operator by programming, testing and running scenarios with faculty instructors.
Sets up equipment for teaching sessions.
Maintains and disassembles skills stations and trainers.
Organizes lab resources including on-line, media, and text items to ensure efficiency of lab.
Maintains the lab in a clean, safe, and operational status.
Updates policies, procedures, and safety manuals.
Operates and uses a variety of simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to full body patient simulators and virtual reality surgical simulators.
Stays abreast of new technologies and procedures.
Prepares equipment for research.
Conducts research observations, obtain data, and provide reports.
Provides technical support for computer based multimedia systems and their components, including anesthesia machines.
Assists in training faculty and laboratory visitors in the operational aspects of simulation.
Demonstrates simulator functions.
Develops and maintains appropriate spreadsheets and databases to track laboratory usage and research data.
Maintains inventory of necessary equipment, parts and general supplies of work area.
Assists with equipment purchases.
Supervises the calibration and maintenance of equipment.
Confirms equipment failures and arranges to have equipment restored to proper service.
Installs software and hardware upgrades and repairs the equipment as required and or directed by the manufacturer.
Maintains record of repairs.
Prepares for and transports devices across campus as necessary.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
