About The Position

The Simulation & Clinical Learning Center (SCLC) Lab Coordinator supports the day-to-day technical, logistical, and operational functions of the SCLC. Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is a dynamic university designated as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) with approximately 11,000 students. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting.
  • Current unrestricted Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory, clinical, or simulation equipment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare simulation environment.
  • CHSOS or CHSE certification, or willingness to obtain certification when eligible.
  • Experience with medical/simulation equipment.
  • Experience with inventory management, supply chain coordination, or procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the setup and breakdown of all simulation environments and skills labs, including preparation of task trainers, props, supplies, and all associated equipment to ensure environments are ready for scheduled activities.
  • Maintain simulation spaces in a clean, organized, and clinically realistic condition at all times, ensuring that environments meet the standards required for effective experiential learning.
  • Report equipment concerns, damage, or operational issues to the SCLC Lab Manager or simulation technician promptly to ensure timely resolution and continued readiness of simulation resources.
  • Facilitate Open Lab sessions by preparing the environment, ensuring equipment availability, and maintaining the operational integrity of the space to support students in meeting their learning objectives outside of scheduled coursework.
  • Coordinate with the SCLC Lab Manager and SCLC staff to resolve scheduling conflicts, manage room turnovers, and ensure that all simulation spaces are properly reset between sessions.
  • Assist with the management, stocking, and maintenance of all SCLC inventory, including simulation supplies, consumables, equipment, and task trainers, in compliance with SCLC operating policies.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records of supply levels, equipment status, and resource utilization, reporting findings to the SCLC Lab Manager.
  • Ensure that all simulation materials are stored, labeled, and managed in compliance with SIM OP 1.010 (Separation of Simulation and Actual Patient Care Materials) and applicable SCLC operating policies.
  • Support the SCLC's American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) program, including maintaining BLS certification records, and ensuring training materials and equipment are available and ready for use.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures governing the use, handling, and storage of simulation equipment, supplies, and materials within the SCLC.
  • Schedule skills labs, simulation sessions, and Open Lab sessions using scheduling software as directed by the SCLC Lab Manager, ensuring equitable use of spaces and resources across all courses and programs according to SCLC policy.
  • Process supply and equipment orders as directed by the SCLC Lab Manager, following TAMU-CC procurement procedures and ensuring timely restocking of consumable materials.
  • Collect and maintain data representing SCLC operational activities, including room utilization, equipment usage, supply consumption, and certification program records, as directed by the SCLC Lab Manager.
  • Contribute to accreditation documentation and reporting activities in support of SSH Accreditation and other institutional quality assurance requirements, as directed by the SCLC Lab Manager.
  • Provide tours of the SCLC to prospective students, families, educators, donors, and community members, representing the center professionally and accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SCLC Lab Manager.
