Silicone Extrusion - 2nd Shift

About The Position

Operate silicone extruders and monitor product quality. The role prepares silicone and hose materials, configures extrusion equipment, checks product dimensions, and records production information to support traceability and conformance to manufacturing specifications. It works closely with Hose Coiling and Maintenance and reports to the Value Stream Team Leader. The position requires following safety and quality procedures, maintaining an orderly work area, and being available for flexible hours and short-notice overtime.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of manufacturing facility experience is preferred.
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
Sound decision-making skills.
Good math, reading, and writing skills.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to maintain continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to monitor machine sounds, identify changes, and take appropriate action.
Near visual acuity and accommodation to read information needed for job tasks.
Constant alertness to surroundings and product quality, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Review the production schedule and plan job duties accordingly.
Mill silicone to specification and prepare hose for extrusion.
Set up the extruder for vertical and horizontal extruded wrap and horizontal manual wrap according to manufacturing specifications.
Cut and send test samples to the lab for product quality control.
Measure the base hose's actual outside diameter and review the maximum and minimum outside diameter and wall-thickness requirements for silicone-covered hose.
Record required data for traceability and conformance to specifications.
Provide reeled products to Hose Coiling for inspection.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow 5S practices.
Follow safety regulations and quality guidelines, and report production issues to the Direct Lead.
Perform work of an equal or lower classification.
Work safely to eliminate unreasonable risks to health and the environment; notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities, and unreasonable health or environmental risks; and immediately report safety or environmental incidents.
Operate equipment efficiently to prevent excess waste of products or components.
Participate in peer-based teams and help initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
Work with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
