This new venture aims to be a game-changer by prioritizing the people of California and holding the powerful accountable across digital and print platforms. The California Post is seeking a seasoned, San Francisco-based Silicon Valley Correspondent with a proven ability to break exclusive stories. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the intersection of the tech sector, finance, and societal trends, possessing an extensive network of industry contacts. This role requires creativity, initiative, and the capacity to consistently deliver high-profile, exclusive content.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working in a major breaking news organization.
- Proven ability to break news and secure noteworthy exclusives in the tech world, with a focus on big money, society, and trends.
- Extensive knowledge of tech industry leaders and a robust network of contacts and sources.
- Expertise in obtaining and interpreting court documents and following legal proceedings.
- Exceptional writing and reporting skills with a strong ability to create engaging and accurate content under tight deadlines.
- On-camera experience and proficiency in conducting interviews.
- Comfortable multitasking and working in a fast-paced online news environment.
- Ability to work a full-time, Monday-Friday schedule with flexibility for live events and work outside traditional business hours.
- Must be based remotely in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Regularly obtain exclusives and write daily breaking stories in the tech world, focusing on society and trends rather than straight business coverage.
- Develop and pitch innovative story ideas that capture audience interest and differentiate the publication.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with sources and representatives.
- Conduct interviews with key figures in the tech sector.
- Represent The California Post at meetings and industry events.
- Strategically contribute to the daily news cycle and ongoing coverage of trending stories.
- Work independently as a self-starter, capable of quick thinking.
- Utilize traffic analytics to guide coverage and assess success.
- Collaborate seamlessly with video, photo, and other departments to enhance daily news coverage.
