About The Position

Founded in 1891, The Trustees of Reservations is Massachusetts’ premier conservation and preservation organization. The Trustees’ preserves, for public use and enjoyment, properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts. As a non-profit conservation organization, we are funded and supported entirely by our visitors, supporters, volunteers, and our 100,000 Member households. The Signature Event Assistant supports Long Hill’s event, Halloween on the Hill in a variety of areas. The event runs October 1 – October 30, with specific scheduling variations throughout the month. Halloween on the Hill has become an extremely popular family friendly event bringing significant awareness and visitation to Long Hil, featuring nearly 2,000 carved pumpkins and large-scale sets. This event brought in over 25,000 people to Long Hill in 2026.

Requirements

  • Excellent “people skills” to inspire, motivate, and work cooperatively and harmoniously with fellow employees, volunteers, committees, members, and the public.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Proven ability to complete assigned tasks and projects, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of The Trustees of Reservations.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
  • Ability to drive and arrive on time for each shift.
  • The ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Push and pull heavy objects.
  • Able to be on feet for 4 – 6 hours at a time.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record.
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.

Nice To Haves

  • Retail or customer service experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support visitor services on the days of the events, including retail support, welcoming people to the property, checking visitors in, concessions, parking, and monitoring for safety.
  • Provide exemplary external and internal customer service.
  • Bring a fun spirit.
  • Support the Halloween on the Hill team to produce a successful event.
  • Assist with event setup in September and breakdown in November for additional hours.
