About The Position

The Sideline Cheer Coach (JV) coaches cheer at Monticello High School. The coach develops and trains student-athletes, organizes and prepares practice schedules, and promotes teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship. Duties are performed in school settings, including gyms and recreational areas, and involve close daily contact with student-athletes for instruction. The coach travels regularly with student-athletes to and from matches and has regular contact with other coaches, administrators, parents, and the media. After-school and weekend hours are required. A coaching stipend is available.

Requirements

Knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations.
Ability to develop and train student-athletes.
Personal skills that foster positive relations with high school student-athletes, parents, and the community.
Extensive knowledge of individual and team fundamentals for the sport.
Ability to organize and prepare practice schedules.
Ability to develop discipline emphasizing teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Previous coaching experience is required.
Cheer coaching or experience is helpful.
Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, and other physical activities are required.
Regular travel with student-athletes to and from matches is required.

Nice To Haves

Holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license; preference is given to candidates with this qualification.
