About The Position

This position is responsible for driving customer vehicles within the Oakville yard, rail area, as well as on public roadways to an offsite up-fitter or off-site yard, in a safe and efficient manner. As well as shuttling the Shuttle Drivers along established routes to local destinations as a Van Driver. Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum one year driving experience
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Valid full G driver's license
  • Communicate in English; Ability to read, write and interpret documents
  • Subject to third party Pre-employment Medical Assessment
  • Subject to Background check including Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check
  • Exhibit behaviour and conduct that fosters a positive work atmosphere
  • Ability to interact with others effectively and communicate diplomatically
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents (e.g., locations cards, work orders, vehicle identification numbers)
  • Ability to effectively react to change and work in a variety of situations
  • Ability to adhere to quality standards and safe work practices

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-use inspections of company vehicles and report any safety, maintenance, or operational concerns to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Monitor vehicle condition during operation and promptly report any concerns to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport associates between designated locations in accordance with established routes, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervision and associates using approved communication methods.
  • Complete required operational documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate route changes, delays, and other relevant information to associate passengers as required.
  • Promptly report delays, incidents, accidents, near misses, vehicle issues, and other operational concerns to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned company vehicles.
  • Travel to assigned vehicles using company transportation or approved methods.
  • Check vehicles for damage or missing accessories in accordance with established procedures.
  • Safely operate customer vehicles between plant yards, storage yards, and other designated locations.
  • Scan and process vehicles using company systems and equipment as required.
  • Park, stage, and prepare vehicles in designated locations in accordance with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Ensure vehicles are secured and left in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Promptly report vehicle damage, safety concerns, or operational issues to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while performing vehicle movement and staging activities throughout the shift.
  • Operate all vehicles in accordance with company safe driving practices, customer requirements, and applicable traffic laws.
  • Maintain established quality standards in all activities.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
