Shuttle Driver (CDL Required) - Wednesday 12:00noon-6pm Thursday-Saturday 6am-6pm
About The Position
This position operates a truck to transfer or drop off trailers between facilities, yards, or docks. The driver is responsible for ensuring necessary paperwork is completed, checking trailer temperatures, and maintaining proper fuel levels for reefers. The role also involves participating as a team member, adhering to Simmons Operating systems principles, and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The job requires the ability to push and pull tanks of product weighing up to 1500 pounds using a hand dolly or jack, use a seatbelt when operating a company vehicle, and work in temperature extremes. Personal Protective Equipment includes a safety vest and radio.
Requirements
- Must have a current CDL Class A license with 1 years of driving experience (DOT- specific).
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must be able to push and pull tanks of product weighing up to 1500 pounds by use of a hand dolly or jack
- Must be able to work in temperature extremes.

Responsibilities
- Operates a truck to transfer or drop off trailers.
- Ensures necessary paperwork is completed.
- Checks trailer temperature and notifies management of any issues.
- Maintain proper fuel level of reefers.
- Participates as a member of the Team.
- Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
- Attends appropriate team meetings.
- Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
- Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
