Shrink Wrap Technician
About The Position
The Shrink-Wrap Technician will package finished products using an automated shrink-wrap machine. This role involves operating and performing minor adjustments on the shrink-wrap machine to accommodate different products, sorting and counting products, inspecting for defects, and transporting wrapped products to the shipping area. The technician will also perform basic maintenance on the machine and notify supervisors when supplies need reordering. This position requires constant physical activity including walking, standing, grasping, reaching, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, and manual dexterity for prolonged periods. The role also involves regularly hearing, speaking, using color vision, and carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs. The work environment is a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, and chemicals.
Requirements
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. 21% to 50% of work time.
- Incumbent constantly required to walk, stand, grasp, reach, push/pull, bend, stoop, twisting, and use of manual dexterity for prolonged periods of time.
- Incumbent regularly required to hear, speak, and use color vision.
- Incumbent regularly required to carry and lift up to 50 lbs
Responsibilities
- Operates shrink-wrap machine to package products.
- Consults with shipping supervisors to determine products to be shrink-wrapped during shift.
- Performs minor adjustments on machine to accommodate different products to be wrapped.
- Sorts and counts unwrapped products and ensures they are wrapped correctly.
- Inspects and removes defective or damaged products.
- Transports wrapped products to shipping area.
- Performs basic maintenance on the shrink-wrap machine.
- Notifies supervisor or other appropriate staff when supplies need to be reordered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
