About The Position

The Shoulder Cutter disjoints the wing from the front half and presents it properly for the wing rounder. Employees rotate among the Cone Loader, Wing Rounder, and Shoulder Cutter positions based on production needs. The role involves accurate shoulder cuts, separating breast meat from the frame, maintaining cut quality, monitoring scrape scores, and preparing presentations for wing cutters. The position also participates in team activities and supports Simmons operating systems, policies, and business objectives.

Requirements

Ability to perform the physical activities described, including constant standing; repetitive shoulder, arm, and hand motions; power grasping and fine manipulation; pushing and pulling; and reaching at, below, and above shoulder level.
Use required personal protective equipment: apron, earplugs, Kevlar gloves, hairnet or beard net, and required footwear.

Responsibilities

Rotate among the Cone Loader, Wing Rounder, and Shoulder Cutter positions based on production needs.
Make an accurate cut on every front half around the shoulder and along the scapula.
Pull the breast downward properly to separate meat from the frame.
Monitor and continuously improve cuts while maintaining low scrape scores.
Pay attention to bones and remove them as necessary.
Sharpen the knife blade as necessary, approximately every three or four birds.
Change out blades at each break.
Prepare presentations for wing cutters.
Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
Coordinate work with team members to support best practices and attend appropriate team meetings.
Support team cohesiveness by identifying and raising issues to the team leader and working with the team to resolve them.
Maintain familiarity with Simmons operating systems, policies, and the position’s role in supporting them; communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
