The company is looking for a Shop Technician - Lead Hand to join its Crane Service team in Edmonton, Alberta. The Lead Hand will play an important role in helping the Service Supervisor with day-to-day planning, organization, and workflow. This role will involve major Crane diagnostics and repairs, and be hands-on with daily shop repairs. The Lead Hand is counted on to provide top-quality leadership and service, while following the company’s established policies and procedures. In this role, the Lead Hand will also help develop and coach apprentices.

Requirements

  • Red Seal or Journeyman Technician Certification
  • 2-5 years related experience
  • Solid knowledge of Crane equipment systems and repairs
  • Good communications skills with customers, peers and supervisors
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Committed to continuous learning
  • Strong technical background and capable of communicating with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
  • Health & Safety Knowledge – OH & S rules and regulations guidelines
  • Certification as a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Accomplished with diagnostic and repair experience on a wide variety of heavy equipment (Crane) from various manufacturers.
  • Able to communicate information in a timely and understandable manner.
  • Fair, level-headed leadership style.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on communication and quality service.
  • Patience.
  • Ability to handle heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work long hours during busy cycles.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Developed personal systems for organizing work and organizing team members.

Responsibilities

  • Helping the Service Supervisor with day-to-day planning, organization, and workflow.
  • Taking on major Crane diagnostics and repairs.
  • Being hands-on with daily shop repairs.
  • Providing top-quality leadership and service, while following the company’s established policies and procedures.
  • Developing and coaching apprentices.
  • Listening actively and performing competence analysis of apprentice technicians.
  • Identifying areas for apprentices to improve and providing on the job training to assist in their development.
  • Completing any additional tasks or projects as requested.
