About The Position

The company is seeking a Shop Supervisor for a position in the Houston, TX area. This role is responsible for exercising independent judgment and supervising/directing a group of workers engaged chiefly in one occupation. The position reports to the Superintendent or Site Manager and involves developing procedures for performance of a variety of duties and performing complex duties within established guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Foreman in specified skill or equivalent combinations of training and related experience
  • TWIC highly preferred
  • Must be able to pass background checks
  • Must be able to pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Sets a high standard to be followed for Turner and Client Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Projects clear expectations to all employees under his/her supervision
  • Proficient in the craft he/she is supervising, supervise welders, fitters, and helpers both in the fab shop and in the field.
  • Must understand Lock out and Tag out procedures and how to identify isolation points, read P&ID's, and be able to field verify a system isolation.
  • Have an understanding of QA/QC audits and how to maintain records for such audits.
  • Have a basic knowledge of fitting and pulling measurements on piping.
  • Knowledgeable on various welding techniques and metals and the hazards associated with them.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer programs, to perform monthly weld tracking reports, daily time sheets, and client work order programs.
  • Obtains excellent leadership and mentoring skills
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, written and/or verbal orders,
  • Estimates worker-hours and materials required to complete the job,
  • Assigns duties, lines up and follows up all work and is responsible for production of the unit,
  • Inspects work to ensure adherence to company standards,
  • Trains and assists workers in the performance of their duties,
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of assigned construction workers,
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations,
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel,
  • Analyzes and resolves work related problems,
  • Implements project safety programs,
  • May maintain time, production, and other records,
  • May study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job,
  • May make cost estimates for contracts,
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
