The Shop Service Technician II diagnoses and performs designated repairs on customer- or company-owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. The technician works safely and follows applicable safety, environmental, and contamination-control requirements, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. The role requires maintaining the tools needed to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer specifications, attending required training, and keeping current with technical changes in the industry. The technician inspects components to maximize parts reuse and control repair costs, completes repair documentation in appropriate software, records repair time, and monitors expenses against estimates. The technician alerts the supervisor to cost overruns before completing a job. Work is performed in an orderly manner, with attention to improving work methods, the work area, and safety standards. The technician contributes to team outcomes, maintains expected safety and quality, and may train or mentor others in the department. Other duties may be assigned. The role calls for independent problem solving and discretion in how work is performed, while meeting defined objectives. Work is typically during regular business hours, with occasional requirements to work nights, holidays, or weekends. The physical and environmental conditions include frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of loads up to 25 pounds; occasional handling of heavier loads; and exposure to shop conditions and equipment-related hazards.
