About The Position

Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift BCP - Shop Service Technician position available at our Cleburne, Texas location. The hours of the position are Monday- Friday - 7 AM - 4 PM. This position is responsible for providing high-quality repair service on heavy construction equipment in a shop environment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of field or shop service experience troubleshooting and repair skills of heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and perform complex repairs correctly in the shop such as pumps, hydraulic, engine, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical issues and repairs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • The ability to read, write, and understand information
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
  • Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
  • Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and assembles of machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Mentors and helps train other technicians
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
