About The Position

Responsible for the overhaul and repair of crane components and accessories for Morrow Equipment Company. This role involves loading and unloading equipment and operating a forklift as requested. The position requires effective communication, collaboration, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally. A "can-do" attitude, self-driven nature, and dependability are essential. The mechanic must demonstrate a respectful and appropriate communication style, with a strong focus on serving internal and external customers with courtesy, tact, calmness, timeliness, sincerity, and empathy. Successful problem-solving skills, including identification, resolution, and prevention of problems, along with good listening skills, are crucial. The role demands effective speaking and writing skills for various communication methods, including face-to-face, phone, email, reports, and other documentation. A detail-oriented approach with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities for quality and timeliness is necessary. Adaptability to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, and multitasking are key. Computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Word and Excel, PDFs, and internet browsers, is required. The mechanic must be able to overhaul and repair crane and hoist components using various tools and equipment, understand technical drawings, and operate shop machinery and small electrical power tools. Responsibilities include the repair and service of shop equipment and machines, knowledge of electrical and mechanical hoist and crane systems, and proper handling of equipment for transportation and storage. The role requires examining protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices, making adjustments as needed. The mechanic will assist in creating parts lists for equipment repair and support the District Service Manager and Shop/Yard Foreman with maintenance and repair tasks. Servicing, repairing, and maintaining equipment such as gearboxes, race bearings, and hydraulic systems according to manufacturer specifications is also part of the job. Maintenance of all tools and shop equipment, ensuring lifting equipment is in safe operating condition, and strict adherence to all Company safety rules, policies, and procedures, including proper usage of PPE, are mandatory. The role requires representing the Company professionally, including wearing company-issued uniforms and maintaining company vehicles, tools, and equipment. Compliance with safety regulations, standards, and Company policies is essential. Unsafe conditions and/or practices must be reported promptly. Timely completion and submission of required paperwork and reports to the Corporate office are expected, along with safeguarding company tools and equipment. The position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, work at heights, and be available for extra hours, including overtime and on-call duties, as per business needs. Other duties may be assigned by the District Service Manager or Shop/Yard Foremen.

  • Perform maintenance on all tools and shop equipment.
  • Ensure all lifting equipment is in safe operating condition prior to use.
  • Following of all Company safety rules, policies, and procedures at all times, including proper usage of Company-supplied PPE as required, including hard hats, safety glasses, body harnesses, arc flash, etc.
  • Ability to represent the Company in a professional manner, which includes wearing of Company supplied MEC Branded shirts or FR uniforms, and proper maintenance of Company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Complying with safety regulations, standards and Company policies.
  • Notifies the District Service Manager or, if unavailable, the Corporate Safety Director, Corporate Service Manager or Vice President of Operations of unsafe conditions and/or practices.
  • Responsible for timely completion and submission of required paper work and reports to the Corporate office.
  • Safeguard tools and equipment belonging to the Company.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work extra hours, including overtime and on-call availability, according to business needs.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned by District Service Manager or Shop/Yard Foremen.
  • May be required to maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • May be required to maintain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable by the company’s carrier.
  • May be required to complete rigger/signaling training and/or may be required to complete rigging/signal person certification.
  • May be required to have a forklift operator’s license.
  • May be required to maintain a Crane Operator Qualification.
