Marine Systems, Inc is hiring a Shop Mechanic 3 in our Houma, LA facility. This role involves completing annual safety training, wearing appropriate PPE, and maintaining a clean work area. The mechanic will use manual and automated equipment to disassemble, clean, inspect, replace, assemble, preserve, calibrate, and package diesel engine components. Basic reading, writing, math, oral, and organizational skills are necessary for documentation, inspection, and customer contact. The position requires physical demands such as bending, reaching, and continuous muscle force to handle objects up to 40 lbs, with periodic travel to field job sites. General shop housekeeping and moving assemblies with equipment like cranes and forklifts are also part of the duties. The mechanic will disassemble, inspect, and assemble basic diesel engine components, and assist Class I & II mechanics with more complex components. Attendance at vendor or required training schools is expected, along with some inspection and maintenance of company equipment and necessary documentation with a Class I or II sign-off. The ability to lift 40 pounds and use precision instruments like micrometers and calipers is required, as is familiarity with equipment such as forklifts, lathes, milling units, and drill presses. Other duties as assigned.
