About The Position

PES is hiring a Shop Helper to work at its fabrication yard in Houma, Louisiana. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed. The role supports fabrication operations through hydrotesting, pipe-spool assembly, equipment operation and maintenance, and assistance to welders and fitters. The successful candidate demonstrates safety awareness, a strong work ethic, technical skill, customer focus, open communication, and support for the company’s vision and values.

Requirements

Two or more years of prior fabrication experience.
Knowledge of crane hand signals.
Ability to select appropriate rigging based on load weight and balance.
Experience using safe work habits.
Must pass a written Rigger Assessment.
Must pass a Welding Certified Tacker test.

Responsibilities

Hydrotest piping systems up to 10,000 lbs.
Coordinate with Quality Control on scanning and data books.
Operate an overhead crane.
Maintain a safe position during lifting operations and remain aware of others’ positions.
Assemble pipe spools using bolted flange connections.
Assist welders and fitters with assembling pipe and fittings, and operate hand tools such as jacks, come-alongs, grinders, and drills.
Stencil and tag materials or equipment.
Perform daily visual inspections and minor maintenance to help keep equipment in proper working condition.
Lubricate machinery and equipment.
Splice and repair cables and ropes.
Participate in daily JSEA planning discussions.
Select and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Conduct behavioral-based safety observations.
Understand and use Stop Work Authority.
