The Shop Foreman is responsible for completing work orders and invoices, preparing warranty claims, reporting and minimizing aged work-in-process, maintaining service records and quality control records, completing job status reports, maintaining current billing cycle, assisting with yearly performance reviews, assisting with determining labor needed, assisting with diagnosing technical machine issues, assisting employees to obtain training, assisting in conducting safety meetings and other general service department duties as directed by the Branch Service Manager. This role involves administrative tasks such as maintaining department communication to complete work and grow service labor sales, utilizing various computer programs and John Deere communication tools, planning work schedules, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area and appearance. The foreman will also manage service department tool inventory, complete service data on invoices, open and close work orders in a timely manner, perform basic diagnostics, advise customers on replacement parts, repair and replace damaged or worn parts, and test mechanical products and equipment. Additional duties include preparing all required reports and forms, preparing warranty information, servicing and maintaining company vehicles and the shop, maintaining flat rates, utilizing Marketing Service Times (MST’s) for quotes, and staying current on product knowledge. The position also involves assisting with performance reviews for Service Technicians, determining labor needs, assisting factory and engineers with technical machine issues, and maintaining billing cycle efficiencies, expenses, and gross margins. Training responsibilities include assisting employees in obtaining technician certification and conducting monthly safety meetings.
