About The Position

The Shop Foreman supervises all shop employees in the day-to-day location operations. This role reports directly to the Dispatcher/Assistant District Manager and is charged with assisting in the successful management of location operations. The Shop Foreman successfully supervises subordinate employees in location operations, promotes and communicates the Safety and Quality Systems through meetings, and performs service coordination and manages yard activity. This role analyzes mechanical and electrical equipment to determine potential problems and necessary improvements to ensure the viability of company equipment, and verifies that all equipment is within certification. The Shop Foreman obtains or assists in obtaining the supplies required to maintain the service line equipment utilizing only approved vendors and purchase order forms. This role maintains records with sufficient commentary to ensure that requirements for quality assurance have been met, provides mechanical assistance and advice to other employees as necessary, and analyzes and evaluates the cost of repairs to service line equipment. The Shop Foreman repairs or supervises the repair of service line equipment and enhances mechanical methods and techniques. This role communicates the condition of equipment that does not meet specifications to the Assistant District/Location Manager for replacement and/or disposal, maintains segregation of equipment, and administers the SSE program. The Shop Foreman maintains and logs all repair parts for all equipment to meet customer requirements, reports and notifies appropriate personnel of inventory inconsistencies, and communicates newly assigned asset numbers to shop personnel, assuring that equipment is stenciled with the same prior to placing equipment into service. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Understanding of certification requirements for equipment.

  • Record-keeping skills for quality assurance.
  • Ability to provide mechanical assistance and advice.
