About The Position
Hutco Inc. is accepting applications for Laborers at a shipyard in Hahnville, Louisiana. This is long-term work with many hours available. No TWIC card is required, and no per diem is available. The rate of pay is $17.00 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Employees perform general labor tasks in shipyards, including handling materials, cleaning work areas and vehicles, preparing surfaces, and transporting tools and materials.
Responsibilities
- Load vehicles using a hand truck or dolly.
- Wash trucks and other vehicles.
- Clean ships, piers, drydocks, and other work areas using brooms and water hoses.
- Open shipping crates using a hammer and pinch bar.
- Sort lumber, metals, and other scrap materials.
- Collect and burn trash.
- Mix and pour cement on ships’ inner bottoms and around deck joints to prepare surfaces for tile or make joints watertight.
- Remove paint and scale from ships’ metal surfaces using hand or powered wire brushes.
- Convey materials and tools to the work site.
