About The Position

This position will be supervising the 2nd shift with runs Monday through Friday from 3:30pm – 1:30am. Flexibility to work overtime & Saturday as needed to meet the needs of the business is required. MITER Brands™ is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. This position is responsible for overseeing the Shipping Department including planning, coordinating and supervising the activities of the shipping department during the shift to ensure that product is shipped out and on a timely basis.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Management, or another related field, or 7 years related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to read and interpret regulations and policies in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively enforce applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments and customers.
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending upon the needs of the department.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic knowledge of PowerPoint

  • English / Spanish Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the loading of products to meet shipment schedules.
  • Determines proper packing and crating of goods to be shipped.
  • Provides accurate bills of lading and keeps records of goods shipped.
  • Schedules and expedites appropriate transportation to comply with shipping deadlines.
  • Work with Dispatcher to monitor and actively pursue lowest possible freight rates.
  • Ensure the integrity of the location systems.
  • Organize and maintain the staging areas to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
  • Perform all supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with transportation and other applicable suppliers & customers.
  • Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship always exists.
  • Responsible for inventory usage and all other department cost.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (I.E., timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.)
  • Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Meet customer load dates by ensuring all scheduled products are made on-time, accurate, and 100% complete.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.
