About The Position

The McCall Farms Supply Chain team is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of purchasing, warehouse, distribution, and logistics solutions. They manage labor costs, personnel productivity, inventory levels, data accuracy, stocking strategies, order accuracy, and customer satisfaction. They measure and report on the effectiveness of departmental activities and operations. As part of the Supply Chain team, the Supervisor I for DC Shipping will supervise a team of hourly associates, primarily on one shift, responsible for the picking, staging, and loading of all customer orders safely and accurately. Duties also include completing monthly safety training, review picking and loading transactions for accuracy, maintain a clean and safe work environment, continuous improvement projects, etc. The Supervisor I- DC Shipping is fully responsible for safety, implementing policies/procedures and upholding company policies. The supervisor will also be training and developing subordinates. All Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safety Policies must always be followed while on McCall Farms property. Any unsafe conditions or acts are required to be reported to Management.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and Sundays, Night or Day.
  • Focus will be on 2nd shift with overtime required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years in a Manufacturing/Distribution environment with Supervisor experience.
  • Lift 20-lbs to 40-lbs (a two-man lift is suggested for anything over this amount).
  • Stand and Sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes that will better themselves and the company.
  • Possess and demonstrate good, detailed communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Present and maintain positive work ethics.
  • Provide good attendance in accordance with the Attendance and Punctuality Policy.
  • Strong investigative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent Documentation Skills.
  • Possess business computer literacy skills (word, spreadsheets, database software) with strong emphasis in Excel, MRP, ERP (Sage), and Mobe3 WMS.
  • Perform independent work related to projects and/or routine activities.
  • Meet deadlines and work under pressure with limited supervision.
  • Work well in a team environment and foster teamwork to get results.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Review reports and other documentation for accuracy and logic.
  • Supervise hourly associates at varying job levels.
  • Demonstrate solid investigative and communication skills knowing when to engage others to resolve issues or to communicate and resolve issues before they become problems.
  • Solid understanding of the manufacturing processes in order to assist in the root cause assessment of issues or the correction of those issues in the realm of processing rework.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of hourly associates responsible for picking, staging, and loading of all customer orders safely and accurately.
  • Complete monthly safety training.
  • Review picking and loading transactions for accuracy.

  • Implement and uphold safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all staff members are following all safety policies.

  • Monitor employees to ensure bump caps/hard hats and safety vests are clean and worn.
  • Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
  • Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
  • Oversee and coach employees.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Submit reports on performance and progress (metrics for aging inventory, cycle counting, warehouse audits).
  • Identify issues with inventory accuracy and suggest improvements.
  • Train new employees on how to put away inventory using Mobe3/Sage.
  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.
  • Complete yearly Cost Reduction projects.
  • Maintain reports and paperwork including Daily Attendance, AOR Audits, and Performance.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Verify that documents are correct and complete required paperwork.
  • Verify that department is set up to meet labor standard specifications.
  • Monitor employee performance, conduct performance reviews, and administer disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct accident investigations and generate proper documentation.
  • Perform work in a fast-paced environment and maintain production requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety policies, USDA, GMP’s, QA, HACCP, Sanitation rules and regulations, and company policies.
  • Design strategies to minimize the cost or time required for each process.
  • Present performance data to management.
  • Propose improvements to management that will improve inventory, picking, loading accuracies.
  • Assist management with the design and implementation of SOP’s for all processes.
  • Coach, assess, evaluate, develop, motivate, and empower others.
  • Assist with preparing annual budgets for headcount and department needs.
  • Monitor headcount and over-time to ensure adherence to department budget.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the DC’s Director and/or Superintendent.
  • Perform collateral duties as needed.
  • Engage in Constant Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Self-prioritize given constant changes and conflicting requests.
