About The Position

International Paper is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to lead and direct the daily activities of the shipping department. This role is responsible for productivity, quality, service, and on-time delivery in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring customer requirements and organization goals are achieved. The supervisor will ensure all work is performed in a safe, clean, productive environment and promote safety and housekeeping by following established safety rules and procedures. This position manages and coordinates daily activities for all three shifts in the shipping department and works closely with customer service, production planning, finishing, accounting, and sales to ensure customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing warehouse space, baled waste contracts, and the Returned Goods process. The role also involves managing inventory with the assistance of the sales team in customer locations and maintaining AXIOM integrity specific to the shipping bill of lading process. The supervisor will ensure efficient truck scheduling, considering freight costs and ship-to locations, and prepare the daily shipping schedule. Deliveries are scheduled 24 hours/day, seven days a week, per customer demands. The role includes cost analysis for all deliveries and customer pick-ups, and maintaining relationships with contracted truckers for the best rates. The supervisor will organize teams to guarantee loads are checked for correct quantities, weight, and quality, and ensure lift drivers maintain up-to-date training, coaching and facilitating the shipping team for better efficiency. Maintaining the integrity of finished goods inventory, both in-facility and in outside warehouses, and working closely with accounting and customer service to ensure data accuracy are key. The supervisor is responsible for tracking inventory and maintaining current knowledge of all costs associated with the shipping department, including pallet expenses.
