About The Position

As a Shipping Specialist at Reader Precision Solutions, you won’t just be handling packages – you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our machined parts reach their destination with precision and efficiency. Your attention to detail, combined with a sense of urgency and logistical coordination, will make you an essential part of our team. The shift schedule is Monday - Friday: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Requirements

  • Previous experience in a shipping role and forklift certification is desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
  • Compare identifying information including counts, weights, or measurements of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Apply shipping labels to packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Insert components/parts into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
  • Post weights and shipping charges.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages.
  • Properly route items to departments.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Support the Outside Process area within the Purchasing department by shipping and receiving components to and from outside process vendors, verifying shipments, maintaining records, and preparing items for shipment.
  • May operate forklift or use pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area, or to load or unload delivery vehicle.
  • May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment.
  • Examine processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • All other projects and tasks as assigned.
