About The Position

The Shipping Specialist acts as a customer liaison, communicating customer requirements and coordinating with various departments including warehouse, planning, engineering, and Business Development. This role involves planning daily tasks for the shipping area for assigned customers, leading the team in executing shipments (including expedited ones), and ensuring all shipments leave the facility on time, are loaded properly, and that documentation and the PLEX system are updated.

Requirements

Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers.
1 to 3 years manufacturing experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or higher.
Regularly required to stand for long periods.
Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip).
Visual acuity including, but not limited to: NEAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. FAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. DEPTH PERCEPTION - Three-dimensional vision. COLOR VISION - Ability to identify and distinguish colors. FIELD OF VISION - Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
Knowledge of and familiarity manufacturing software.
Skillful use of Office software.
Able to read English document (export storage and transportation only).
Know warehouse management, transportation and insurance management.
Familiar with road, railway, airline and waterway transportation.
Familiar with relevant laws and regulations.
Glass production principles and technological process; all business processes by the company; conditions for raw material, unfinished and finished products storage.
Company rules and regulations, quality policy, target and commitment.
Storage and transportation process, storage, basic knowledge of customs clearance (export storage and transportation only), company procedure and post features.
Fill in booking list, provide logistics supplier with necessary document for custom clearance and telex release, check bill of lading.
Able to make presentation, make shipment plan and have valid forklift license.
Certain analytical and judging ability.
Good communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and leaders of other departments in a professional manner.
Knowledgeable of work instructions and TS16949 systems.
Ability to complete required improvement, corrective actions form, 5W and 8DTraining Required: Production process and major equipment training knowledge, Know factory production management mode, Logistics and international trade training, Supplier management training, 5S training.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

Provide requirements of what to stage for shipments to Dock personnel.
Monitor Customer EDI transmissions for shipment requirements when discrepancies occur.
Visually inspect staged products for any quality or quantity discrepancies. Ensure proper containers for customer are used.
Communicate to EDI team/Production all customer requirements including any pull ahead orders for expedited shipments and shortages for shipments.
Ensure all ASNs are transmitted after trucks leave. Ensure all loads leave on correct truck for customer. Send the Bill of Lading with trucks and save copy for shipping dock.
Ensure PLEX transactions are updated.
Document any missed shipments and spills and assist Shipping Supervisor in completing 5 Why.
Responsible for health and safety within every operation.
Assist teammates in other line processes toward continued line improvement.
Perform 5S and housekeeping duties to maintain high standard of facility cleanliness.
As Logistics & Import/Export Compliance Lead is responsible for the strategic management of the scheduling, monitoring and administration of outbound and inbound shipments along with ensuring the Fuyao is in compliance with governmental entities’ laws, rules and regulations both nationally and internationally.
Additionally, will be responsible for establishing and auditing processes and systems to assure company remains in compliance as laws, regulations and international conditions change.
Fulfill assignments/tasks given by Supervisor or Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
