About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Worker processes orders and ships products to customers, unloads incoming materials, and places them in the building. All training will be provided. The role is with Tension Envelope Corporation, a medium-sized business in Des Moines, Iowa. Prospective candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees.
Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to compute rates and percentages and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to read a ruler.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the metric system.

Responsibilities

Check freight for damage and count freight against the bill of lading.
Process shipments by counting, packaging, weighing, and labeling materials.
Load trucks.
Write orders and maintain the staging area.
Prepare bills of lading and miscellaneous forms, including forms for wastepaper trucks.
Operate mechanical equipment, including a forklift, elevator, and stretch wrapper.
Prepare shipping documentation, such as bills of lading and packing slips, for urgent last-minute shipments.
Coordinate pickups and deliveries with outside carriers.
Perform related work as required; other duties may be assigned.
