Shipping & Receiving Team Member - HiLo
About The Position
This role is responsible for performing various material handling duties with powered material handling equipment, following verbal and written orders in a safe manner. The team member will operate a powered industrial lift truck, move materials to designated areas, unload and stack materials, and supply workers with materials as required. They will also load and unload shipping trucks, interpret labels for proper material disposition, and weigh materials, recording information on tags or labels. Additionally, the role involves refueling propane gas, training new employees, maintaining records of work performed, and conducting maintenance checks on the Hi-Lo. The team member is authorized to initiate actions to prevent nonconformities and report any safety or mechanical issues to a supervisor. Daily maintenance check-offs and weekly scrap audits are required. The position also contributes to continuous improvement in the shipping and receiving area and material processes.
Requirements
- Ability to perform all essential job functions as described for a Production Associate.
- Ability to operate powered industrial lift truck in a safe manner at all times.
- Ability to move materials in amounts to avoid personal injury, or damage to equipment, material, product, or the facility.
- Ability to interpret labels to ensure proper disposition of materials.
- Ability to weigh material or products and record on tags or labels.
- Ability to refuel propane gas as needed.
- Ability to train new or less experienced employees on the job.
- Ability to maintain proper records of the work performed.
- Ability to perform maintenance checks to make sure the Hi-Lo is in proper working condition.
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, processes, and quality systems.
- Ability to report any safety or mechanical problems with the Hi-Lo to a supervisor.
- Ability to fill out daily Hi-Lo maintenance check off list and a weekly scrap audit.
- Ability to perform other essential job functions as assigned.
