The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for successfully leading and overseeing all warehouse and shipping and receiving operations to ensure departmental goals are consistently achieved in the areas of safety, productivity, quality and on-time delivery. This role provides strong daily leadership to the shipping and receiving teams, setting clear expectations and ensuring work is executed efficiently and accurately. Key responsibilities include coaching and performance management, maintaining high operational standards, working cross-functionally with production and sales to support customer needs, ensures accurate inventory organization and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience working with NMFC classifications and freight shipping requirements.
  • Experience using ERP systems to manage inventory, shipping and operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a culture of accountability, safety and operational excellence.
  • Provides hands-on leadership, mentoring team members through active participation in daily operations and reinforcing best practices across shipping and receiving activities.
  • Ensures reviews are completed on schedule for each team member, ensures compensation is accurate.
  • Maintains industry-leading standards for inventory accuracy through disciplined warehouse processes and proactive cycle counting.
  • Ensures strict adherence to FIFO inventory management practices to preserve product integrity, traceability and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinates and directs the shipping and receiving team towards efficiently completing their objectives.
  • Monitors material inventories, production schedules and scheduled shipments to plan daily/weekly work assignments.
  • Ensures accurate inventory and investigates variances, making adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinates with production and sales to meet all customer deadlines and delivery dates.
  • Proactively communicates to understand and accommodate order revisions, cancellations, custom products or expedited shipments.
  • Coordinates packaging materials and shipping supplies and orders the items needed to complete upcoming orders.
  • Meets or exceeds established quality standards for reliability and accuracy in the department.
  • Inspects materials, products, packaging and shipping labels according to Company quality procedures.
  • Identifies the root cause of any errors and implements corrective actions to prevent similar issues.
  • Ensures all Company safety procedures are followed and that potentially unsafe conditions are corrected immediately.
  • Maintains an effective organizational system in the department, with all inventory clearly labeled and stored in the correct locations.
  • Promotes safe work practices and supports the goal of maintaining a workplace free of preventable injuries.
  • Housekeeping and organization of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction in Company's shipping, receiving and inventory management processes.
  • Leads the successful implementation of the identified process improvements initiatives.
