Shipping Receiving Lead-1st Shift
About The Position
This role assists the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and Coordinator/s in leading the activities of employees involved in the movement of material in the shipping process and warehouse organization. The position requires knowledge of equipment, procedures, and specifications to ensure efficient and accurate processing of shipments, including quantities, labels, and packaging. The lead will coordinate truck loading, ensuring products are shipped to the correct location and loaded in the correct sequence while maximizing space utilization. This role also involves monitoring inventory levels, inbound product flow, location labels, and racking to maintain inventory accuracy, space availability, and safety. Collaboration with the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor is key for adjusting work assignments, warehousing plans, and schedule maintenance to ensure product is stored accurately, organized, and safely. The lead will also monitor and help reconcile inventory discrepancies, ensure safety rule adherence, and assist with training shipping personnel. This position may also perform the duties of a shipping clerk, general production, or back up shipping and outplant coordinators and leads as needed. Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school level education or equivalent specialized training which may be obtained in vocational courses or on the job.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in shipping and receiving.
- Understanding of basic math skills and computer entry processes.
- Ability to count and maintain accurate records (i.e. shipments, inventory, etc)
- Ability to operate a truck and forklift.
- Ability to lead and direct others.
Responsibilities
- Assists Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and Coordinator/s in leading the activities of employees with the movement of material in the shipping process AND warehouse organization, utilizing knowledge of equipment, procedures and specifications.
- Adjusts work assignments/priorities as needed to ensure ship schedules are met and processed efficiently and accurately (quantities, labels, packaging, etc.).
- Coordinates the loading of all trucks; ensuring products are shipped to the correct location and loaded in the correct sequence – while maximizing space utilization.
- Monitors inventory levels, inbound product flow, location labels and racking to ensure inventory accuracy, space availability and safety.
- Works with Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to adjust work assignments, warehousing plans and/or schedule maintenance to ensure product is stored in an accurate/organized and safe manner.
- Monitors inventory discrepancies and works with Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to reconcile.
- Ensures shipping personnel follow safety rules and operate in a safe manner.
- Assists with training of shipping personnel in standard work procedures/processes and equipment.
- Assists and backs up Shipping and Outplant Coordinators and Outplant Lead as needed.
- Performs work of shipping clerk and/or general production as needed.
