About The Position

This role involves coordinating the activities of employees in the shipping department, training and motivating them to meet work standards, and ensuring all shipping supplies are on hand. The position requires assigning employees to work stations, maintaining a competent crew, and suggesting disciplinary actions when necessary. The lead will also be responsible for various reports, providing input for employee evaluations, suggesting work orders, and assisting in inventory control. Promoting harmonious working relations, recommending efficiency improvements, entering shipping data, and overseeing safety issues, including accident reports, are key aspects of the role. The position requires maintaining confidentiality, communicating problems effectively to supervisors and other departments, and working with minimal supervision, at times independently. Compliance with company rules, regulations, policies, and all safety, health, and environmental regulations is mandatory. Following and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and company policies, as well as meeting attendance standards, are essential. The lead will also perform other duties as assigned. Marginal functions include carrying out Shipping Clerk Lead responsibilities, training new employees, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Basic to mid-level math and reading skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong self confidence and leadership skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Understands basic concept of First In/First Out (FIFO) product rotation.
  • Must be accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, while at the same time making sound decisions.
  • Handle daily employee issues.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk.
  • Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions/problems.
  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Company rules, regulations and policies.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law and Company policies.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and company policies at all times; must be familiar with G.M.P. requirements and the employee handbook.
  • Meet Company attendance standards of start and end times for work as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
