About The Position

Leggett & Platt Incorporated is seeking a Customs Analyst to join their Operations team to support their Automotive business. This role is crucial for ensuring that imported and exported goods comply with customs regulations, trade laws, and company policies. The Customs Analyst will analyze shipment documentation, classify products using tariff codes, calculate duties and taxes, and support efficient cross-border trade operations. The company is a world leader in designing and manufacturing seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers and tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry.

Requirements

  • Professional certification CCS (Certified Customs Specialist)
  • 5+ years of experience with Canadian and International customs included HS codes, Tariff codes and Bonded Shipments.
  • 2 years of experience in the Automotive industry
  • Knowledge of C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)
  • Very good command in MS Office and ERP systems usage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High Accuracy in documentation, data entry and customs record keeping

Responsibilities

  • Review import and export documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Responsible for the organization and coordination of all parcel services (Fedex, UPS, DHL etc.).
  • Responsible for all customs activities as needed (Trade-master paperwork for dunnage daily. Trade-master paperwork for import or export shipments).
  • Support Corporate Logistics with Yearly NAFTA, CUSMA, USMCA.
  • Support investigations with CBSA -Canada Border Services Agency (CARM).
  • Understand the Harmonized System and Classify products using the Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes.
  • Conduct audits of customs transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare reports and analyze customs-related data to identify risks, cost savings, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, carriers, government agencies, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Fulfill assigned primary, secondary, and/or tertiary deputy/back-up roles as required on occasion by the business.
