About The Position

The Bardstown Bourbon Company is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to manage the receipt, examination, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role is crucial for maintaining quality standards, handling and routing shipments, managing inventory of shipping materials, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. The Associate will also assist with loading and unloading, coordinate with carriers, and perform administrative tasks to support efficient shipping and receiving operations. Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Willingness to learn and operate forklifts and hand trolleys.

Responsibilities

  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments; reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shippers to resolve issues.
  • Create and manage shipping labels and information for outgoing shipments.
  • Determine the method of shipment using knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Maintain an inventory of shipping materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times.
  • Assist in loading and unloading packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, and pallets.
  • Perform computer functions to track deliveries and shipments, including creating organized shipping records such as statements of origin, shipping costs, products shipped, and receipt dates.
  • Maintain and update records related to shipping and receiving activities.
  • Coordinate with carriers for pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring efficient scheduling and handling of shipments.
  • Contact vendors and suppliers as needed to address any issues or requirements.
  • Answer phones, update records, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Report defective materials or questionable package conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean, orderly, and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Follow prescribed safety procedures and handle shipping materials responsibly.
  • Move and transfer materials to the appropriate departments or areas.
  • Assist with forklift and hand trolley operations as needed.
  • Support the company's ISO program, including adherence to quality and food safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
