About The Position
Worthington Industries is hiring a Shipping/Receiving 1 employee to support its Shipping and Receiving department. The role handles truck scheduling, paperwork for material receipts and shipments, and truck flow through the facility for inbound and outbound loads. The stated shift is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The employee receives, unloads, stores, stages, and issues materials and tools; performs related computer-system transactions; and coordinates with carriers and other departments. The role also includes preparing shipping and export documents, maintaining component-issue logs, and training and mentoring other shipping/receiving employees. Standard safety training is provided.
Requirements
- Two to five years of prior shipping/receiving experience.
- Knowledge of inventory control.
- Working knowledge of PCs and the Windows operating system; Oracle training is available.
- Excellent forklift and material-handling skills.
- Familiarity with shipping-related paperwork and associated system transactions required for daily activities.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced knowledge and familiarity with plant-wide production, purchasing, and maintenance activities to facilitate appropriate stocking and issuing of MRO items.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with carriers and schedule appointments for inbound and outbound loads.
- Accurately receive, unload, and store material into inventory.
- Stage machine materials for work in process and accurately perform system transactions.
- Stage loads and load trucks with products to meet delivery dates.
- Communicate and coordinate with outside departments on shipping and receiving.
- Record coil receipts in the computer system, perform computer data entry, build loads, print bills of lading, and complete export papers.
- Receive, store, and issue tools and other items for the plant.
- Maintain log books for issuing certain production components.
- Train and mentor other shipping/receiving employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
