About The Position

Hexcel is a global leader in advanced composites technology, developing, manufacturing, and marketing lightweight, high-performance structural materials. The Shipping Operator will be responsible for packaging finished products in compliance with manufacturing and customer specifications, including making crates, pallets, and boxes for shipping honeycomb products. This role involves determining if existing product needs to be palleted or crated, using a due date list to select finished products, and utilizing sales order information to determine proper packaging methods. The operator will verify that all quantity and dimensions of finished product have been checked and signed-off by production. They will move material with a forklift and use hand tools, power saws, and air-powered equipment to construct boxes, crates, and pack product. Additionally, the role includes ordering lumber, cardboard replenishments, and other packing material and work supplies. The operator must be able to read and understand routers, job copies, and sales orders, and input and receive information from a computer to log out test pieces, print sales orders, and labels. Ensuring that packaging meets customer specifications and expectations is a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
  • Previous Hexcel experience preferred.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function preferred.

Benefits

  • Start rate: $25.00 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $27.31 Per Hour.
  • $1.75 per hour shift premium for Swing shift.
