About The Position

A material handler is an individual responsible for the efficient and organized movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. Their primary role involves loading and unloading shipments, sorting, and organizing inventory, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Material handlers use various equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely and quickly. They play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, fulfilling orders, and supporting the overall logistics and supply chain operations of a business.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective communication skills: fluent English reading, writing, speaking
  • Experience working in shipping/receiving/warehouse
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ensure FIFO is followed for all transactions
  • Able to continuously stand, walk, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Handle in-plant materials
  • Wrapping and banding freight
  • Pick up and deliver raw materials, work in process inventory, and packaging supplies, as needed, to and from the presses and shipping areas
  • Successfully complete forklift certification program
  • Label and prepare packages for shipment
  • Additional related duties as required
