About The Position

The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing all shipping operations within the facility. This role involves direct supervision of shipping staff, meticulous monitoring of shipping and receiving records, and ensuring accurate inventory levels against production needs. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining pallet inventories, overseeing forklift maintenance and parts ordering, and ensuring outgoing shipments are presented professionally. Collaboration with sales and production teams is crucial to guarantee all necessary products are available for outgoing loads. The position requires diligent tracking of both fresh and frozen inventories and adherence to all corporate and plant policies, including GMP and specific packing/labeling guidelines.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of shipping, warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of shipping, warehousing, transportation, and inventory management practices.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and shipping software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in poultry, meat processing, food manufacturing, or refrigerated distribution preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise shipping staff.
  • Verify weekly payroll time sheets for all employees in the department.
  • Monitor all shipping and receiving records.
  • Check all inventory levels against production.
  • Monitor all pallet inventories to make sure we have a good supply of stock.
  • Check on all forklifts and ordering of parts to ensure proper credit for part suppliers.
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to keep our forklifts and pallet jacks are kept up to date and in safe working order.
  • Monitor outgoing pictures of loaded trucks to ensure the customers receive the best-looking product we can possibly send out.
  • Work closely with the sales and production teams to ensure we have all products needed to finish all loads.
  • Keep track of all inventories, fresh and frozen items.
  • Perform various special tasks assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Comply with all written corporate and plant policies.
  • Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies.
  • Follow the written specifications for packing and labeling of products.
