About The Position

Cenveo is hiring immediately for an experienced Shipping Manager in their manufacturing facility located in Chicago, IL. This role oversees the day-to-day functions of the Shipping Department, directing warehouse personnel, managing shipping docks, paperwork, and ensuring that orders are picked and shipped correctly and on time. The position also manages the inter-departmental transport of materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business/ relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous shipping experience as a supervisor/manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of JD Edwards and One Max software, along with Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess knowledge of truck lines, freight costs, and distribution points.
  • Strong leadership and safety experience.
  • Ability to constantly hear, speak, be articulate, use color and central vision, grasp, reach, and use manual dexterity.
  • Ability to occasionally sit for long periods, and occasionally stand and walk.
  • Ability to occasionally lift to and/or move 10 pounds to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth operation of the entire shipping department.
  • Coordinate the activities of employees engaged in material handling, shipping, storage, and transportation.
  • Prepare Bills of Lading.
  • Schedule deliveries based on available inventory, anticipated inventory, and order promise dates, and meet all customer expectations related to customer-requested ship date.
  • Coordinate with Production and Customer Service departments to optimize shipping schedules, freight expenses, and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure that orders are picked and processed on time based on customer requirements and the carrier pick-up schedule.
  • Manage shipping dock doors, driver check-ins, and pick-ups.
  • Review shipping performance daily, monthly, and report results.
  • Responsible for physical inventories, including counting and reconciliation, and ensuring cycle counts are conducted multiple times per year.
  • Ensure that the shipping area is organized, clean, and meets compliance factors.
  • Train and develop employees and monitor performance activities; ensure all employees are certified/trained to operate power industrial equipment.
  • Formally appraise performance; coach/counsel employees and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance; take necessary disciplinary action; and determine the method in which work is performed.
  • Assist with the interview/hiring process.
  • Comply with Company policy, including safety and adherence to applicable safety procedures concerning equipment operation, machine/tool operation, repair/installation work.
  • May provide guidance and training to other team members.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.
