About The Position

The Shipping Team Member is responsible for supporting shipping, kitting, and inventory processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of parts and materials to customers. This role may perform a variety of tasks across picking, packing, kitting, and material handling while maintaining quality standards, workplace safety, and effective communication across departments. This role may also function as a Shipping Lead when designated, providing day-to-day coordination, direction, and support to team members within the Shipping department.

  • Ability to operate or learn material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Basic understanding of warehouse, shipping, or inventory processes preferred
  • Prior experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse, or transportation coordination
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with shipping systems, carrier portals, or ERP systems preferred
  • Ability to lead by example and support team performance
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; equivalent experience considered

Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, pack, kit, and prepare orders for shipment
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and overall quality prior to shipment
  • Ensure packaging materials are appropriate to protect items during transport
  • Load, unload, and move materials using appropriate equipment
  • Operate forklifts and stock chasers (Harper Industries certified or ability to obtain certification upon hire)
  • Assist with inventory organization, cycle counts, and material staging
  • Coordinate with team members regarding part availability and shipment timelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Communicate delays, shortages, or issues to appropriate personnel
  • Perform work in both indoor and outdoor environments, depending on assigned tasks
  • Coordinate daily shipping workflow to ensure timely and accurate outbound shipments
  • Assign and prioritize daily tasks based on production schedules and customer deadlines
  • Verify shipment accuracy against packing lists, sales orders, and bills of lading
  • Coordinate carrier pickups, freight scheduling, and parcel shipments
  • Assist with preparing shipping documentation, labels, and carrier paperwork
  • Monitor staging areas to ensure orders are organized and ready for shipment
  • Train and support team members on shipping processes, safety procedures, and documentation requirements
  • Communicate shipment priorities and issues with production, customer service, and carrier partners
  • Identify process inefficiencies and support improvements to workflow and organization
  • Serve as the point of contact for day-to-day shipping questions in the absence of the Shipping Supervisor
  • Support loading and unloading of trucks as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
