About The Position

The purpose of the Shipping Lead is to assign tasks and be the main contact for the department, ensuring that customers receive the correct product packed and shipped in a safe and professional manner. This role involves maintaining packing materials, equipment, accounting issues, maintenance logs, sign-in sheets, rosters, and matrixes.

Requirements

  • One to three years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Basic MS Windows-based interface skills (log in, log out, navigate).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Familiarity with US export Tariff Sch B.
  • Hoist and Forklift certification.
  • Wearing badges, safety glasses, face masks and steel toe shoes.

Responsibilities

  • Generate pick lists throughout the day to maximize shipments.
  • Ensure all pick list processors are aware of terms, ship via options, and special notes on pick lists.
  • Verify part number and serial number by matching the pick list to the carton box label when a unit is packed.
  • Enter weights, dimensions, and pieces onto the pick list, as well as the carrier used if BESTWAY is the Ship via.
  • Enter all required fields into ERPLn, including Total Weight, Carrier Pro Number, Tracking Number, and Freight on SO if applicable.
  • Change carrier if a different one is used than specified, provided it is approved by Sales and documented on the pick list.
  • Stack units onto pallets where applicable, using straps, stretch wrap, and necessary do-not-stack labels.
  • Communicate and provide necessary documents to ground, LTL, and international carriers to schedule shipment pickups.
  • Utilize customer portals to schedule shipments where applicable.
  • Communicate and be respectful to outside departments with promptness and clarity.
  • Generate carrier shipping labels, global labels, and customer-specific labels.
  • Maintain an Excel document with accounting holds, freight terms, ship completes, and NRE charges and credit cards.
  • Verify daily pick lists for freight additions, confirmations, and check marks, and ensure international or trucker pickup receipts are attached.
  • Assist in data entry and cross-training for data entry.
  • Assist in packing and cross-training for packing, creating molds, and pallet building, referencing Material Instruction (MI) documents.
  • Maintain a spreadsheet for all required packing supplies for purchasing.
  • Maintain and verify daily maintenance logs (hoist and packing machines) and visitor sign-in sheets.
  • Maintain the Training Matrix and Evacuation Roster.
  • Ensure packing Material Instructions (MI's) are accurate and followed, deviating only when authorized by Management.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Quality, Environment, Security, and Employee Handbook regulations.
