Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, strong Excel knowledge
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Able to work alone or with others to complete tasks.
  • Able to read/write English

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a warehouse environment using record keeping and internal computer systems to access and document shipping records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps records on incoming shipments.
  • Monitors incoming shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Verifies accuracy of shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
  • Consults with management to clarify department priorities, identify problems, and suggest changes for improvement.
  • Determines shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping area to storage and/or work areas.
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders and posts weight and shipping charges.
  • Prepares required department records and reports.
  • Recommends measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.
  • Trains and assists workers in shipping and receiving activities.
