The purpose of the Shipping Lead is to assign tasks and be the main contact for the department, ensuring that products are packed and shipped correctly to customers in a safe and professional manner. This role involves maintaining packing materials, equipment, accounting issues, maintenance logs, sign-in sheets, rosters, and matrices. The Shipping Lead will generate pick lists throughout the day to maximize shipments, ensuring that those processing pick lists are aware of accounting terms, shipping methods (collect-prepaid-add), and special notes on the pick list. A critical part of the role is verifying part numbers and serial numbers by matching the pick list to the carton box label once the unit is packed. The Shipping Lead will enter weights, dimensions, and pieces onto the pick list, specifying the carrier if BESTWAY is the shipping method, and input all required fields into ERPLn, including total weight, carrier pro number, tracking number, and freight on SO if applicable. They must also change the carrier if a different one is used than specified, provided it is approved by Sales and documented. The role includes stacking units onto pallets, using straps, stretch wrap, and necessary labels. The Shipping Lead will communicate with ground, LTL, and international carriers to schedule shipment pickups, providing necessary documents like international invoices and Shippers Letter of Instructions. They will also utilize customer portals for shipment scheduling and generate carrier shipping labels, global labels, and customer-specific labels. Maintaining an Excel document with accounting holds, freight terms, ship completes, NRE charges, and credit cards is also a responsibility. Daily pick lists must be verified to ensure freight is added and confirmed, with international or trucker pickup receipts attached. Paperwork is to be submitted to accounting the following morning. The Shipping Lead will also assist in data entry, cross-training in data entry, packing, and creating molds and pallet building, referencing material instructions (MI’s). They will maintain a spreadsheet for purchasing regarding packing supplies and verify daily maintenance logs for hoists and packing machines, as well as visitor sign-in sheets. Maintaining the Training Matrix and Evacuation Roster, and ensuring packing Material Instructions (MI’s) are accurate and followed unless authorized by Management, are also key duties. Adherence to all Safety, Quality, Environment, Security, and Employee Handbook regulations is required.
